I put a drywall square on the top and lined it up with the router edge to emphasize the 'whoop-de-do', and give some inches markers if those are helpful.
And, a look of it without the ruler in the way.
To strengthen the wall, add concrete and rebar in the holes.
Like that...
It gets tricky because the next blocks on top need to fit over those things sticking up.
