One year ago today, I brought home a brand new 2006 Toyota Prius. I picked it up about 7pm that day, so I gave myself until after work today to call it a year. That also allowed me to surpass the 40,000 mile mark inside the first year.

I'm in Chicagoland and they've been salting the roads like crazy. I could wash this car on each end of the commute and not have much less salt to show for it.

I reset the trip meter on Monday mornings typically. I took a 'snow-day' and worked from home once this week, so on Thursday I only have 384.2 miles for the week. There is a section of the German Autobahn between here and work, that's the only explaination I have for my Max Speed calculation. Anyone who thinks you need to stay under 50mph to get over 50mpg might take some notes here. I drive with the traffic flow to achieve my results.

Here we are. 1 year, 40,104 miles.
I tracked the fuel consumption the whole year and logged it on my website. The last 140 miles or so are not reflected, but the average over the year was 50.89mpg.
